Socialism Threatens Farmer's Property Rights

NEW JERSEY / SOCIALISM THREATENS NEW BRUNSWICK FARMER'S CONSTITUTIONAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

Atlantic Highlands Herald

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS HERALD
New Jersey's 1st Official Electronic Newspaper

In more and more court decisions, judges are willing to confiscate your property under the “eminent domain” rule that permits the taking of property for such public uses as transportation corridors (highways, rail lines, bridges, etc.).

When government seizes your property under “eminent domain,” government must pay you the fair market value of your property.

Well, it always doesn’t work that way.

SOCIALISM THREATENS PROPERTY RIGHTS IN AMERICA !

August 15, 2002

More and more I get the feeling that New Jersey’s judges and politicians are moving toward the mind-set of socialists and communists.

The issue is property rights.

Who owns your property: You or your government?

Of course, you do. Our Constitution says so. This is America. Not the communist People’s Republic of China, or Cuba, or the old Soviet Union. We are a free and independent nation.

No longer.

Take the current land-use case in North Brunswick. Local officials decided to usurp a property owner’s rights by condemning his 104-acre farm for “open space.”

That’s right -- open space!

What’s happening is that local officials believe they can now condemn property for open space. In the case of New Brunswick, local officials believed it was in the public interest to condemn a farmer’s property so the township could have some ball fields and walking trails on it.

The farmer already had plans to sell his land to U.S. Home Corp. of Houston to build 400 homes for senior citizens.

Yes, our deserving “seasoned” citizens who need housing as our population becomes grayer and grayer.

Too bad, you old folks! Ball fields and trails have a higher priority in North Brunswick than the quality of life of our seniors.

State Superior Court Judge James Hurley, a Democrat, ruled last week that North Brunswick could use its right of “eminent domain” to purchase the land and preserve it.

So much for farmer Edwin Otken and his dream of a decent seniors community to serve New Jersey’s aging population.

North Brunswick has agreed to buy the large tract of farmland for its “appraised value” of $6 million. The farmer says U.S. Home Corp. has offered several million dollars more.

This is not an issue over money, although the farmer and U.S. Home Corp. are certainly getting the royal shaft from a handful of local officials and a liberal judge.

Liberalism in America in recent years has come to represent the principles of socialism, Marxism and, yes, even Communism, where the state assumes all power over the people.

Today’s liberal political system is about more and more Big Government, and less and less Freedom for the working taxpayers. Government forgets that without the working taxpayers there can be no government, large or small.

How does a little, old farmer fight the massive and intimidating government bureaucracies and their liberal, anti-constitutional collaborators -- the judicial system itself.

Forget about our elected politicians. Most major decisions today are made by the courts -- not Congress. Nine justices on the U.S. Supreme Court and nine Justices on the Supreme Courts of our states. They have become the absolute rulers of our destiny.

Our sacred U.S. Constitution has become fair game for liberals rewriting American history with each socialist-Marxist (and even Communist) decision.

We may soon have to change our beloved national identity to AMERIKA!

If our national Constitution does not prevail, we, the working taxpayers, will find ourselves in the same situation as Cuba, China and the former Soviet Union.

Is this what we really want from those we elect to public office, who, in turn, appoint our judges, who, in turn, pervert and subvert our Constitution?

Wake up, America, before all of our Freedoms are gone, and forgotten!

Marxist-Socialist Tax Policies Destroying N.J.

NEW JERSEY / MARXIST-SOCIALIST TAX POLICIES DESTROYING BUSINESSES & JOBS

Atlantic Highlands Herald

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS HERALD
New Jersey's 1st Official Electronic Newspaper

Governor “McGreedy” is raising business taxes in New Jersey by 66 percent. McGreedy sees that as a billion-dollar hit for his big tax-and-spend state government.

That projected billion-dollars of tax revenues could turn into a billion-dollar loss of jobs, businesses shutting down, or leaving New Jersey to other states that are “business friendly.”

Already, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s are talking about downsizing and laying off workers if their company’s new tax bill soars from $4.4 million in 2001 to $10 million in 2002.

SOCIALIST GOV. ‘McGREEDY’ IS DESTROYING JOBS !

~ By Gordon Bishop

Governor Jim McGreevey calls it “Tax Reform.”

I call it Socialism.

Governor “McGreedy” is raising business taxes in New Jersey by 66 percent. McGreedy sees that as a billion-dollar hit for his big tax-and-spend state government.

Don’t count your chickens yet, Governor.

McGreedy, a lawyer, is not an economist or an entrepreneur. He’s a professional politician who’s been running for public office most of his adult life. He doesn’t have a degree or experience in business, or economics.

But it doesn’t matter to a socialist, whose vision of America is increasing government and decreasing economic opportunities for investors in business enterprises.

America in the1990s was frightingly like the America of the 1920s that led to the nation’s first Great Depression.

If it wasn’t for World War II, the Great Depression would have continued into the 1940s. That war put Americans back to work, at a staggering cost to taxpayers -- and took this great country down the road to socialism.

It began with President Franklin Roosevelt’s “New Deal” in the ‘30s, followed by President Lyndon Johnson’s $7 trillion “Great Society” socialist programs in the ‘60s, capped off by President Clinton’s historic “Raw Deal” -- the two biggest tax increases in the 226-history of our once great Republic.

So here we are, working half a year to pay our taxes, and half a year to take care of our immediate needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, education, transportation, and a couple of weeks of vacation each year.

Like any Marxist-Socialist, McGreedy is ignorantly attacking the Chairman of Federated Department Stores, the parent company of Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Why is McGreedy targeting one of the nation’s largest chain of retail stores?

Because their chairman, James Zimmerman, is paid $1.5 million a year, plus stock options worth more than $12 million.

Hey, McGreedy, you should’ve been a retail manager instead of a politician and you would be making $1.5 million a year with $12 million worth of stock options.

But like any Marxist-Socialist, our shallow, myopic Governor prefers taxing the productive rich and redistributing the wealth to the less productive and less rich.

That’s what they did in the Soviet Union and Cuba, and look what’s happened to those two societies.

Another Marxist nation, The Peoples Republic of China, is now moving in the direction of a free market economy. Why? Because it works!

Liberals, Marxists and Communists do not believe in Freedom or Liberty. They believe in a strong, centralized, tax-and-spend government that punishes success and rewards failure.

That’s why America, today, has become a dysfunctional socialist State. The harder you work, the more Big Liberal Government takes.

Liberals would rather subvert and pervert our sacred U.S. Constitution by stripping away our freedoms, one article, one amendment at a time.

America’s freedom-fighting founders would be shocked and saddened at what their great Republic has become over the past 70 years.

Goodbye, Freedom.

Welcome, Socialism-Marxism.

Medical Care: Costly Nightmare Of Litigation

NEW JERSEY / MEDICAL CARE HAS BECOME A MADDENING AND COSTLY NIGHTMARE OF LITIGATION

Atlantic Highlands Herald

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS HERALD
New Jersey's 1st Official Electronic Newspaper

Lies, cover-ups, and incompetence are ruining the America Dream on Wall Street, Main Street, and our nation’s Capital Street, where politicians and the self-interests play a ruthless game of winner-take-all!

All of these money-driven fools must stop this relentless exploitation of “the system” they blame for everything.

But we are “the system.” We, the working, taxpaying voters of America are “the system.”

We created this nightmare by not voting and then voting for the same politicians serving the special interests instead of the common good.

HMOs/LAWYERS VS. DOCTORS/HOSPITALS/PATIENTS !

~ By Gordon Bishop

July 18, 2002

An increasingly immoral and unethical society is sowing the seeds of its own self-destruction when everyone starts suing somebody in what amounts to a scandalous lottery for the winners.

When lawyers start suing doctors and then doctors start suing the insurance industry, medical care in America becomes a maddening and costly nightmare of litigation.

That’s what’s happening in New Jersey and several other states when anger and frustration turn into an all-out legal war between the lawyers and insurance companies, and doctors, hospitals and patients.

Billions of dollars in legal costs will be wasted in this immoral, unethical war between these national economic giants.

The losers are all of us: the working, taxpaying patient who simply wants to be healed, to survive in a hostile environment of selfish and senseless litigation.

Who’s responsible?

All of us!

In a word, Greed.

“Greed is good,” according to today’s high-stakes CEOs, stock and money managers.

Greed has become a social sickness, pitting family against family, neighbor against neighbor, employee against employer, politician against politician, bureaucrat against bureaucrat.

Lost in all of this self-consuming greed are two important ingredients of a sound society, a functional civilization.

Those two words are Truth and Sacrifice.

We must begin to remove the corrupt operators and overseers of America’s health care system one by one, getting rid of politicians who won’t represent those who vote, shutting down the self-interests one by one, and putting an end to frivolous lawsuits that are spreading like a cancer throughout our socio-economic-political process.

We need fairness, balance, and most of all, honesty.

But can a corrupt and broken society cure itself of these self-concocted diseases?

  • FACT: The cost of malpractice insurance in New Jersey has increased an average of 152 percent in the last three years.
  • FACT: The United States used to have 4,000 medical students applying for surgical residency positions. Today, only 750 students from the United States are applying for surgical training throughout the Nation. New Jersey has only 28 slots for candidates seeking to become surgeons. By comparison, some 4,000 law students pass the New Jersey Bar each year to become attorneys.
  • FACT: America needs more good doctors, nurses and entrepreneurs who create real jobs and clean revenue, and not “cook the books.”

Finally, each citizen must accept the responsibility for their own behavior and failures. Stop government from expanding the unproductive and destructive “Welfare State.”

But, first, we all must vote with our conscience for those with a conscience, if we still have one after more than 40 years of liberalism.

Until that happens, America will continue to be a dysfunctional jungle of selfish immoralists.

LIberal Pollsters Are Liars - Voters Are Stupid

NEW JERSEY / LIBERAL POLLSTERS ARE LIARS -- VOTERS ARE STUPID

Atlantic Highlands Herald

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS HERALD
New Jersey's 1st Official Electronic Newspaper

Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch was so outraged with Torricelli's massive "tax lie" that he urged New Jersey voters to recall the Senator from office.

Both the New Jersey Democrat Party and its Democrat voters ignored Torricelli's big "tax lie" and even supported Torricelli's vote to raise income taxes sky high.

Are New Jersey Democrat voters stupid, or what?

As long as the liberal media and our liberal educational system continue to support liars and sleazy politicians, New Jersey and, ultimately, America, deserve what they get.

LIBERAL POLLSTERS ARE LIARS - OR VOTERS ARE STUPID !

~ By Gordon Bishop

Liberal media pollsters deliver liberal results for the Democrat party.

More than 90 percent of the media and public education unions consider themselves liberal.

So it was no surprise when the liberal Star-Ledger/Eagletown-Rutgers Poll claimed U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli, a Democrat from New Jersey, was ahead of Republican senatorial candidate Doug Forrester.

Torricelli certainly has more "name" recognition in New Jersey after being investigated by the U.S. Justice Department for admittedly accepting more than $50,000 in cash and luxury items from Bergen County businessman David Chang.

Chang is serving an 18-month prison term for giving Torricelli the "gifts," while the senator, who eagerly accepted the expensive gifts, did not go on trial and is now running for re-election.

That's what more than 40 years of corrupt liberalism has done to America.

The Star-Ledger/Eagleton-Rutgers poll claims that on the issue of "government ethics," Torricelli drew even with Forrester. The Ledger poll needs a reality check.

Maybe Forrester ought to take some "bribes" from political operatives and he would be ahead in the polls in New Jersey.

Here's what the Ledger poll wants New Jersey voters to believe:

"At this early stage of the election, the voters' issue agenda favors Democrat incumbent Bob Torricelli over his Republican challenger Doug Forrester."

This is the same Bob Torricelli who campaigned for the New Jersey Senate seat six years on the promise he would "not raise taxes," if elected.

The first thing Torricelli did when he became Senator was to vote on President Clinton's biggest income tax increase in the history of America.

The only hope for New Jersey and America are honest candidates with a clean past.

Doug Forrester is an honest candidate with a clean past.

Torricelli is a bald-faced "liar," as is Torricelli's pal, Bill Clinton, according to Democrat Ed Koch.

Clinton and Torricelli - Perfect Together!

But bad for America.

Until liberal voters wake up and see the light ("truth"), America will continue down the road to its own self-destruction.

The United States of America can no longer tolerate a corrupt elective and judicial process.

Liberals have perverted, polluted, bastardized and all but destroyed our great Constitution and our Constitutional Republic, the greatest form of government the world has ever known ... until 40 years ago when the Democrat assault on our Republic began.

The Democrat madness must stop now, before this great civilization known as the USA collapses, just as the corrupt Roman Empire and its Republic disappeared by behaving like today's Democrats.

America’s Justice System has been corrupted by sleazy politicians.

David Chang, a Bergen County businessman who testified he gave U. S. Senator Robert Torricelli lots of expensive gifts and cash totaling more than $50,000, was found guilty of obstructing justice and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Senator Torricelli, a liberal Democrat from Bergen County, walked away a free man.

Torricelli, a Democrat, told the media that a federal investigation into his political-financial affairs taught him that he must exercise “a higher degree of caution” in accepting campaign contributions and associating with donors.

Torricelli, like his Democrat friend Bill Clinton, is what’s wrong with America’s judicial and election systems.

How could Chang possibly go to jail, while the recipient of Chang’s generosity walks -- and continues to serve in the United State Senate?

Like the Clinton White House, the United States Congress today is rife with corruption.

The Senate Ethics Committee is looking into the Torricelli matter to see if the New Jersey senator broke any laws, ethically, in taking gifts and money from David Chang.

Torricelli’s a free man. Why? Because he got one last “gift” from outgoing U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White, who was appointed by Bill Clinton.

Before Mary Jo White left office when President Bush was elected, she announced she will not prosecute Torricelli for “bribery and other crimes.”

Is it any wonder why giant corporations like Enron, Global Crossings and Arthur Anderson stole billions of dollars from stockholders? You can trace it to our bankrupt political system. The Enrons of America believe they can get away with looting investors. Hey, if the politicians can get away with it, so can they!

The corruption is rampant in both the public and private sectors. And getting Clinton, Torricelli and other slippery politicians off the criminal hook sets a bad precedent to anyone with weak morals, ethics or a conscience. And they seem to be in the majority nowadays.

Judicial Watch, the only nonprofit “legal watchdog” of America, has no less than 50 lawsuits pending against politicians, including Democrats, Republicans and even Independents if they break the law.

“Truth” is no longer a word with any meaning in this once great Constitutional Republic. Lies and deception are shaping public policy. The private corporate world is lying more and more to its investors, which is why the stock market has gone south.

There is no more “truth in packaging” for politicians and CEOs alike.

Even the Catholic Church (and other religions as well) are not telling the truth about their priests or ministers. Pedophiles and homosexuals have invaded the ranks of those we used to trust. That familiar oath, “I swear to God,” is as meaningless as the role of God, or a higher authority, in our day-to-day lives.

With a national 51 percent divorce, families are crashing, and more and more youngsters are growing up with either “two mommies” or “two daddies.” The differences between males and females have been blurred. Anything goes!

Aids is an epidemic -- and drugs, sex, alcohol and gambling are the order of the day.

America is becoming a dysfunctional society.

If the head of the fish is rotten, how can the body (and soul) survive?

This is where America is today because of more than 50 years of dumbing-down and downsizing our social, cultural, educational and political standards and values.

Is it too late to stop this self-destructive cancer?

NEW JERSEY / CONTRACT WITH NEW JERSEY -- 10 WAYS TO MAKE N.J. # 1

10 WAYS TO MAKE NEW JERSEY NUMBER 1

~ By Gordon Bishop
Syndicated Columnist
June 13, 2002

America’s Republican Revolution of the 1990s was led by Congressman Newt Gingrich.

Remember Newt? He was the powerful Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives after the 1994 congressional elections.

Newt created the now historic “Contract With America.” It contained 10 points to strengthen America’s economy, culture and our sacred Constitution -- the “Rule of Law.”

The “Contract” worked. President Clinton adopted most of the 10 points of the “Contract With America” to get re-elected in 1996.

Yes, Newt Gingrich was a political genius, right up there with Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Ben Franklin, the bright stars of the American Revolution -- the birth of our nation.

Now, 226 years later, there is the “Contract with New Jersey.” The author is Paul Mulshine of Bay Head, Ocean County. Mulshine writes a politically independent column for The Star-Ledger, where I worked for more than 26 years as a columnist/investigative reporter. Mulshine is the only reason to read the liberal-socialist Star-Ledger these days.

I fully support Paul Mulshines 10 points in his “Contract with New Jersey.” Here they are:

  • 1. The State will keep the original promise to use the income tax to offset local property taxes. Every town will have at least 50 percent of its school costs paid by the State.
  • 2. The 30 Abbott (Supreme Court) school districts (mostly cities) will be required to file plans to wean themselves off State welfare within 10 years. Those that wish to keep pre-school will have to fund it themselves.
  • 3. The roads will be improved to meet the volume of traffic. Any increase in the gas tax will be dedicated entirely to highway improvements.
  • 4. The State will stop imposing its will on the towns. The Mount Laurel ruling on affordable housing will be repealed by referendum, and zoning power will be restored to municipalities.
  • 5. State legislators will vote their consciences. Any order by the State Supreme Court that requires a legislator to vote for a certain measure will be ignored.
  • 6. Any State Supreme Court justice who infringes on the legislative power will be impeached.
  • 7. The State government will serve the people who pay for it, not the people who work for it. Republicans will refuse contributions from public employee unions. All services will be paid for at the lowest price possible in a free market.
  • 8. No lawyer in the Legislature can work for a law firm that does legal work for any other level of government.
  • 9. The right to referendum will be expanded. Citizens will be able to petition for a referendum on any matter. No long-term bonds will be sold without a referendum.
  • 10. No person living in any one municipality should be forced to subsidize through the income tax any other municipality that has more elaborate services or higher salaries for municipal officials.

As in Newt Gingrich’s famous Contract with America, there is no social component in the “Contract with New Jersey.” It is all pro-taxpayer and pro-voter.

Socially, New Jersey has become so politicized by one issue -- abortion -- that it now defines today’s elections, whether you’re a “liberal” or “conservative.” (Mulshine is conservative.)

Abortion is not in the “Contract with New Jersey” because abortion is an issue which State officials can do little or nothing about. Abortion is a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

Next time you vote in New Jersey, vote for the candidate who adopts the “Contract with New Jersey.”
