The agenda on Saturday begins with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., the dress uniform competition of horse and rider begins. At 1 p.m., the equitation routine competition begins. At 1 p.m., two riders compete side by side in the team event, through and over obstacles under timed conditions.
PASSAIC COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT MOUNTED PATROL AND MORRIS COUNTY PARK POLICE HOST NATIONAL COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND
PATERSON – Passaic County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol will host a national mounted patrol competition with Morris County Park Police this Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, at Seton Hackney Stables in Morris County.
Mounted patrol from around the country will participate in the National Police Equestrian Competition at the stables at 440 South Street, Morris Township. Over 100 rider and horse teams have entered from Canada, Texas, Michigan and Virginia.
Passaic County Sheriff’s Department maintains a 6 member police horse unit at Garret Mountain Stables, under the direction of Captain Kevin Piscitelli.
Building obstacles for the obstacle course has been accomplished with the help of Passaic County Technical Institute students in Robert Vendetta’s carpenter shop students.
Local businesses have contributed items to the workshop and a local artist has painted props. The props include a simulated homeless shelter, a balancing tee ter totter and some push carts.

Saturday, the competition will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the best rider and horse in the individual obstacle course are chosen.
