What Democrats do not realize is that their plan to try and correct one aspect of this issue will destroy what is left of the employment situation here in New Jersey. What does this really mean for consumers? When a business is faced with a new tax they are forced to cover these new expenses by either increasing prices, or laying off employees. A more severe result would be if these businesses simply pack up and desert the state entirely.
TAXING NEW JERSEY'S BUSINESS HURTS CONSUMERS
Unfortunately the new administration in Trenton is now trying to implement practices that will not only reverse all we have strived for over the past decade, but also drive future businesses from considering the Garden State as their base of operations.
Many New Jerseyans are out of work during this difficult time as unemployment rates continue to soar throughout the nation. The New York Metro area has been particularly hard hit causing residents throughout New Jersey to contend with a scarce job market and difficulty providing for their families.

This type of legislation will force companies to relocate to surrounding states that are more business friendly and take with it jobs, revenue and ratables. Many organizations such as the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA), which boasts more than 18,000 member companies, around our state, are concerned.
Even small companies that are losing money will have to pay a large tax when they can least afford it." says NJBIA President Arthur Maurice. "This is a tax increase on employers that are the backbone of this economy, the folks who create jobs, pay health benefits, pay their state and local taxes, and keep our economy humming. This tax increase will hurt not only employers, but also their employees and the New Jersey economy."
